PCR Respiratory Testing

PCR Respiratory Testing

Flu, Covid, and RSV symptoms are very similar and easily transmitted through droplets and aerosols and have coinciding onset/disease symptoms. These symptoms can range from asymptomatic to hospitalization and there are fatalities with ALL.

Treatment protocols are quite different even though symptoms are much the same. Early, correct diagnosis is crucial. All viruses can progress quickly leading to severe disease, especially in high-risk groups. The only definitive way to distinguish illness is to test with PCR diagnostic testing.
EARLY DIGNOSIS = BETTER PATIENT OUTCOMES

SARS-Cov2 (Covid)

Covid is caused by SARS-COV2, and has one strain with several mutations layered with a spike protein. CDC has confirmed more than ½ Billion confirmed cases and over 7 million deaths worldwide.

FLU A/B

Seasonal Flu is a respiratory illness generally occurring in the Winter months and can have a significant impact, affecting up to 11% of the population with 800,000 hospitalizations and 60,000 deaths in a bad flu season.

RSV
RSV is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. RSV can be serious, especially for infants and older adults. In fact, RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs) in children younger than 1 year of age in the United States. It is also a significant cause of respiratory illness in older adults. Infections can be dangerous. Each year, it is estimated that more than 177,000 older adults are hospitalized and 14,000 of them die in the United States due to RSV infection. Adults at highest risk for severe RSV infection include older adults, especially those 65 years and older.
